Vintages Pre-Release Come enjoy the National Capital Guild's signature event! The next Vintages Pre-Release is on Thursday, June 5th, 2008.

The Guild Signature Event

Come enjoy an outstanding selection of wines to be released the following Saturday at Vintages. The atmosphere is friendly and informal, and everyone is encouraged to express their views on the wines. As we know everyone is right even when they are wrong, as so often demonstrated by some of our most experienced tasters. We always try to find some great values as well as presenting wines that many may not have tasted because they are less well-known or else beyond most people's budget.

As is customary, the wines are tasted blind, allowing the quality of each to shine through without the distortions that often result from knowing the region’s or the producer’s reputation and/or the price range.

Thursday, 19 June 2008, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (Bordeaux VPR Redux)
Chelsea Club, 236 Metcalfe (at Somerset)

At Vintages Pre-Release events, it is often said that the wines are tasted far too young or that it can be difficult to obtain aged wines if one does not own a cellar. This Redux event brings back the eight red Bordeaux (from 2000-2003 vintages) served at the September 2006 Bordeaux VPR, plus some other selections. Two of the stars include Ségla, 2001 and Château St. Georges, 2001. Let’s open them up and see how these wines taste now!

Members & Sponsored Guests: $45 + $2.25 (GST) = $47.25

Moderation
Don't Drink and DrinkThe National Capital Sommelier Guild strongly supports moderate and responsible consumption of wine and spirits. Guild dinner events allow a designated driver to attend at a reduced price. The designated driver will not be served alcohol. Guild tasting events provide and encourage the use of spit buckets.
It is well to remember that there are five reasons for drinking: the arrival of a friend; one’s present or future thirst; the excellence of the wine; or any other reason.
