Each year, the National Capital Sommelier Guild honours an individual who has markedly contributed to the wine community of the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
This year, the Board of Directors of the National Capital Sommelier Guild are proud to announce the selection of Natale Lofaro as the 2007 Wine Person of the Year.
We are very fortunate to have Natale as a director of your Sommelier Guild, someone actively involved in the Guild: directing the Algonquin recruiting and outreach program, developing, organizing, and running tastings, as well as helping other directors with their events and wine selection.
When he is not busy with Guild business or his full-time job as a LCBO Product Consultant, Natale is an instructor at the Algonquin Sommelier Certificate Program, as he has been since the spring of 1998. Natale is extremely well liked by his students and demonstrates an extremely approachable view of wine.
Natale, himself a graduate of the Algonquin Sommelier Program, has also completed the University of Guelph’s Ontario Grape & Wine Industry Certificate. This past year, he was awarded the Kirkwood Group Memorial Foundation Award for academic excellence in wine studies. The Ontario Imported Wine-Spirit-Beer Association (OIWSBA) grants this award annually to the person who achieves the highest score of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Diploma, Unit 3 exam.
The Guild could not be more pleased to award Natale, a most deserving recipient, with this long overdue Wine Person of the Year Award.
Congratulations, Natale!! |
