Come Spring, Come Riesling Print
Tuesday, 8 April 2008, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Chelsea Club, 236 Metcalfe Street (at Somerset)

A good Mosel is a thrilling taste ... it simply bursts with the happy, blossoming flavours of spring and early summer. (Oz Clarke, the essential wine book, 1996)

The greatest single white grape. Before you react with the challenge of Chardonnay let me ask you when you ever met a tingling apple fresh Chardonnay of no more than 7% alcohol but intense and lingering flavours, a 40 year old Chardonnay of creamy golden depth but still piquant and vital or a Chardonnay like inspired honey with rich imitations of smoke and honey ... (Hugh Johnson, 1997)

Join Guild Director Natale Lofaro as we celebrate the diversity and deliciousness of Riesling. Stylistically, we will taste nervy, spine tingling dry wines right through to what Hugh Johnson describes as celestial marmalade.

Each flight will be accompanied by a cheese course. To complete the evening we have a very rare 1994 Beerrenauslese from Fischer’s Ockfener Bockstein Vineyard located in the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer.

Members and Sponsored Guest $55 + $2.75 (GST) = $57.75

Guild dinner events allow a designated driver to attend at a reduced price. The designated driver will not be served alcohol. Guild tasting events provide and encourage the use of spit buckets.
