The National Capital Sommelier Guild Scholarship for Wine Education was established in 2003 to promote educational opportunities and foster the development of professional wine service with individuals employed full-time in the hospitality industry in the Ottawa-Gatineau community. By providing this Scholarship the Guild realizes its educational mandate in a manner that initially benefits the students, but ultimately leads to improved wine service for consumers throughout the capital region.

"Great wine is about nuance, surprise, subtlety, expression, qualities that keep you coming  back for another taste. Rejecting a wine because it is not big enough is like rejecting a  book because it is not long enough, or a piece of music because it is not loud enough."
