Women in Wine III Print

Reported by Rutha Astravas

Antonio and guestsOver twenty Guild ladies and their friends gathered at the new Divino Wine Studio. Guests sampled the Studio's many Italian wines by the glass (new selections are offered weekly in the Enomatic tasting station) and tapas-like dishes at their own cost, rather than offering a set tasting.

The guest speaker was Lori Davis, a highly respected LCBO Product Consultant, known to many in her other roles as as Algonquin instructor, former Guild Director, and wine judge. She spoke about her career trajectory at the LCBO, starting at a time when there were relatively few women, and explaining the process of becoming a product consultant. Lori also shared some stories from the the range of educational and judging activities she engages in. Yohanna Loucher, long-time member, checks out the winesMany thanks to Lori for coming to speak with such passion and humour, and to Antonio and the staff at Divino who made it a fun and delicious event!

The National Capital Sommelier Guild strongly supports moderate and responsible consumption of wine and spirits. Guild dinner events allow a designated driver to attend at a reduced price. The designated driver will not be served alcohol. Guild tasting events provide and encourage the use of spit buckets.
