Special Offer to Corporate Members: Introductory Wine Service Standard Training
Tuesday, 01 December 2009
By Pierre Fournier
To cap off our 15th anniversary celebrations of 2008, the Guild recently announced the release of a Wine Service Standard aimed at bridging the gap between formal and every day wine service. To further our objectives of excellence in wine service, the Guild is now announcing the availability of a training package for wine servers.
Consisting of three modules, this two and a half hour session explores the fundamentals of wine and wine service through discussion and demonstration:
Wine 101 for Servers: an introduction to the fundamental of concepts and language of wine
Basic Wine Service: the roles and interactions of correct wine service
Ask a Sommelier: an no holds barred question and answer session
New for 2009 is the inclusion of this training as part of the cost of our corporate membership. This applies to all new and renewed corporate members (within reasonable driving distance of Ottawa). Additionally, this training is available for organizations and individuals at a reasonable cost.

The National Capital Sommelier Guild strongly supports moderate and responsible consumption of wine and spirits. Guild dinner events allow a designated driver to attend at a reduced price. The designated driver will not be served alcohol. Guild tasting events provide and encourage the use of spit buckets.
