Q: What is EventBrite? A: EventBrite is a provider of online event management and ticketing service. They allow any person or organisation to publish and advertise events online. Event registration, ticket sales, and attendance lists are all handled automatically. Visit eventbrite.com for more information.
Q: What is PayPal? A: PayPal is a merchant and payment service that allows organisations to process credit card transactions online with minimum fuss and maximum security. Visit paypal.com for more information.
Q: Why is the Guild using EventBrite with PayPal? A: The Guild hopes to reduce the effort required by our registrar and treasurer when organising events. Although our registrar and treasurer have always done an excellent job, using EventBrite will help the Guild to spread some of the responsibilities among the other directors and volunteers.
Q: Is it safe to use my credit card online? A: Yes. All credit card information is transferred and stored securely. In fact, since the Guild no longer needs to retain your credit card information in its membership database, it can be argued that your credit card information is even safer than before.
Q: Do I need a PayPal account to register for a Guild event? A: No, you can pay for your event tickets through PayPal without a PayPal account.
Q: When will I be billed for an event? A: Your credit card will be charged as soon as you register for the event.
Q: Can I still e-mail
to register for an event? A: No. All event registration is to be done through EventBrite. If, for some reason, you cannot register for an event using EventBrite, contact
to see if an alternative arrangement can be made. Such exceptions will be handled on a case by case basis at the discretion of the registrar.
Q: I am bringing a guest to a Guild event. Can my guest purchase her or his own ticket? A: Although EventBrite allows guests to purchase their own tickets, we strongly encourage guest tickets be purchased by the sponsoring Guild member. This allows us to keep track of which members are bringing guests and how many.
Q: I am not a member of the Guild, and do not have a sponsor. Can I still attend your event? A: Guild events, unless otherwise noted, are open only to Guild members and their sponsored guests. If you are not a member of the Guild and you purchase a ticket, the Registrar will contact you at your email address to ask who your sponsoring member is. Please consider joining the Guild in order to receive the newsletter and enjoy many other benefits of membership. If you do not have a sponsoring member, or you do not reply, the ticket purchase will be canceled and the money refunded. Please ensure that you provide a valid email address at which you can be reached.
Q: I need to cancel my registration. How do I do this? A: First, please note that cancellations are allowed only up to 10 days before the event. If it is prior to 10 days before the event, contact the Guild registrar at
to cancel your registration. All your money will be refunded. Partial refunds (if, for example, your guest cannot make it) are also possible, subject to the same 10 day restriction.
Q: I tried to register for a Guild event in EventBrite, and it said that tickets are not yet on sale. Why? A: Ticket sales are usually not opened for an event until after the event is announced in the monthly newsletter. It sometime might take a day or two after the newsletter is released for ticket sales to be opened.
Q: I tried to register for a Guild event in EventBrite, and the only available quantity of tickets was 0. Why? A: The event is sold out. Check back closer to the event date. If there are cancellations then tickets will become available again.
Q: Who do I contact to get technical assistance if I am having difficulties registering for an event? A: For technical assistance when registering for an event, contact the Guild registrar at
