‘94+’ Premium Shiraz Print
Tuesday, January 26, 2010, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
DiVino Wine Studio, 225 Preston St. (North of Gladstone)

SOLD OUT!

“Heady, wild, floral and musky aromas of cassis, plums, red currants and cranberries are handsomely supported  by dusty new vanilla oak and backed by minty nuances of menthol, licorice and treacle. Sumptuous and smooth,  its seamless palate unfolds layers of sour-edged dark berries and plums with mocha and vanilla oak framed by  tightly knit, fine-grained tannins. Tremendous depth, tightness and balance.”

This is just one of the tasting notes  for this outstanding line-up of premium Shirazes. Guild Director Robert White has spent two years collecting  these wines, virtually all from the Classics Collections with some from as early as 2003. This tasting cannot be  repeated as a full eight of the wines have been rated by the experts as 96 or above—including the very hard to  get Glaetzer Amon-Ra, with microscopic yields of 0.5 tons per acre this wine was rated 97-100 by Jay Miller.

We will also see wines from such renowned producers as Jim Barry, Yalumba, Kay Brothers, R Wines and Rolf  Binder. Premium Shirazes are elegant and complex wines that rank as some of the best in the world today and  dispel the notion that only “fruit bombs” are made in Australia. Come and see for yourself!

Please be sure to  sign-up early, as this event historically sells-out early.

Don't Drink and Drink
The National Capital Sommelier Guild strongly supports moderate and responsible consumption of wine and spirits. Guild dinner events allow a designated driver to attend at a reduced price. The designated driver will not be served alcohol. Guild tasting events provide and encourage the use of spit buckets.
It is well to remember that there are five reasons for drinking: the arrival of a friend; one’s present or future thirst; the excellence of the wine; or any other reason.
