For the Burgundy and Bordeaux fans in the Guild, John MacKinnon will present six prized examples of each that he has personally selected based on his extensive tasting for the LCBO. These wines are sure to be a special treat. In addition to the wines, Maria Amalia Garza, Divino Wine Studio’s resident chef, will match these exceptional wines with a selection of small plates. For those that don’t know John MacKinnon, he has been a part of the wine and food scene in Ottawa for the past 30 years and will be retiring from the LCBO at the end of March. He has tasted over 40,000 wine, been a judge at various wine competitions, including Ottawa’s Annual Wine & Food Show and the Epicurean Restaurant Awards, and made presentions at countless events, dinners and tastings. John’s current title is Vintages Business Development and he publishes a biweekly wine newsletter based on Vintages releases. Before this he was a manager of numerous stores in town including being the first manager of Ottawa’s Vintages Store when it was located at the corner of Clarence and Dalhousie.
